Transit agencies offering special service for New Year’s Eve

San Francisco revelers looking to celebrate the 2010 New Year will get a little boost from the local transit agencies.

For the 10th straight year, Muni will be offering free rides on New Year’s Eve, and the transit agency’s Metro line service will stay open until 3 a.m. on January 1. The free service will run from 8 p.m. on December 31 to 6 a.m. on January 1.

BART will also extend their operating hours until 3 a.m. on January 1, although the agency will not be offering its Flash Pass program, the $6 travel card that allows unlimited service.

Caltrain will run until 2:15 a.m., and its service will be free after 11 p.m.
