Tour the maritime hospital-turned-apartment complex

The 154-unit apartment complex remodeled at the former site of the Public Health Service Hospital will give the public a glimpse of the new homes today during a public meeting and tour.

The Presidio Landmark’s management are inviting the public see the inside of the 78-year-old building that had been blighted for years until construction began in 2008.

The building, located at the 15th Street gate, features one and two-bedroom homes for up to $4,325 per month.

Redevelopment of the abandoned hospital will earn revenue for private parties and the Presidio National Park.

Several hundred people signed up for a waiting list to rent units, and those prospective tenants are being contacted and offered tours of the property, according to Forest City developer Abigail Friedland.

Tour starts at 6:30 p.m. at the new apartment complex.
