Today's weather: Wednesday, October 10

The Bay Area's first significant rain this season led to accidents all over the Bay Area Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol. Downtown San Francisco received .61 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service, while .54 inches fell at San Francisco International Airport.

"There were quite a few crashes and some flooding," said CHP Officer Chris Nave. Nave said motorists should give themselves plenty of time to arrive at their destination, slow down and leave extra space between you and the vehicle ahead of you.

Currently, traffic is heavy westbound on the Bay Bridge with an accident just before the Toll Plaza. There are also accidents on northbound U.S. 101 just passed Third Avenue in San Mateo, on eastbound Highway 92 before 101 and on southbound Interstate 280 at 92. Expect delays.
