Today's weather: Tuesday, October 9

Much-needed rain is in the forecast for tonight's Bay Area commute and through the night. Forecasters with the National Weather Service expect most of the Bay Area to see partly cloudy weather conditions with patches of thick fog before noon.

Clouds will gather after lunch with temperatures expected to reach into the 60s and low 70s. The wind will increase from 10 mph to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight

The Bay Area should receive some rain as temperatures drop into the mid 50s and 40s. Winds, coming from the south, should be in the 10-20 mph range with gusts reaching 35 mph.

Tomorrow

Forecasters said the mostly cloudy skies should linger until tomorrow morning with a slight chance of rain. High temperatures in the Bay Area should reach into the upper 50s and mid 70s.

Traffic

A disabled vehicle is blocking the right lane on westbound Interstate 80 between the toll plaza and Bay Bridge metering lights, so drivers should expect some delay. Traffic is also heavy on westbound 80 over the Bay Bridge.
