A 3-year-old was critically injured after a car rolled over him while backing out of a driveway in San Francisco’s Telegraph Hill on Sunday.

The child, who has not been identified, suffered head trauma in the horrific accident near the intersection of Edgardo Place and Grant Avenue, police said Monday.

The driver was backing out of his driveway at around 5:25 p.m. when a witness hollered at him to stop because someone was underneath the vehicle, police said.

The driver stopped, got out of his car and discovered his car had rolled over the child.

The 3-year-old was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. His condition Monday was not immediately known.

The driver was not arrested.
