Three hurt in crash near I-280 on-ramp at Junipero Serra

Three people were injured in a crash on San Francisco’s Junipero Serra Boulevard early Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said.

The two-car crash was reported at about 5:20 a.m. on southbound Junipero Serra Boulevard just south of 19th Avenue, near Interstate Highway 280, San Francisco police Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.

The cars involved, a 1996 GMC and 2003 Honda, somehow sideswiped one another, and both vehicles went off the roadway. One vehicle hit a tree and the other went down an embankment, Dangerfield said.

A male and female inside the GMC suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital, he said.

The driver of the Honda suffered some sort of leg injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, and was also taken to a hospital, Dangerfield said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.
