Three-alarm Marina district fire contained, hospitalizes one person

San Francisco firefighters have contained a three-alarm fire in The City’s Marina district on Sunday that sent one person to a local hospital, a fire lieutenant said.

The fire was reported at 8:16 p.m. at a three-story building on Jefferson Street, fire Lt. Ken Smith said.

The fire was burning on the second floor of the building, 1839 Jefferson St. and the third floor, 1841 Jefferson St., and then spread to the second and third floor of the adjacent building as well, Smith said.

The fire was contained as of 9 p.m. but “there are still a few hot spots” in the buildings, he said.

One person was pulled out of one of the buildings, and was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation and what appeared to be facial burns, according to Smith.
