Third shooting in two weeks in Bayview

A gunshot-locating system led police to a man who had been shot in the face Tuesday evening at a Bayview car tire and stereo shop.

The man was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and is doing fine, said police Lt. Doug Groshong.

When officers, alerted by ShotSpotter, arrived at Beyond Street Performance at 2110 Palou Avenue around 6:20 p.m., whoever shot the man had left, Groshong said.

He said the victim was shot in the face and couldn’t talk at the time.

Two people nearby also called about hearing the shots, one saying he thought fireworks exploded, but no one who may have seen the shooting has come forward, Groshong said.

“If they live in the community, and you’ve got guys willing to shoot someone else, it’s hard to come forward as a witness,’’ he said.

Last week, police increased patrols when two men were shot in separate incidents in the Bayview: one in a drive-by near the 2900 block of San Bruno and another in the unit block of Bertha Lane after a confrontation.

No suspects have been arrested.
