Thief poses as banker in phone call to victim

In another example of how crooks disguise themselves as bankers, a woman who had her wallet stolen received a phone call from someone claiming to be a bank employee. The caller was actually the thief, police said.

After stealing her wallet on Friday, the crook convinced the victim over the phone to offer her personal information. The woman said $500 then went missing from her bank account, police said.

The victim was an employee at St. Mary’s Medical Center, where the wallet was stolen from an office. Cops are investigating the theft.
