The Horrors’ Faris Badwan sees new success with Cat’s Eyes

In more Anglophile news, that tall, spectral spookster from The Horrors, Faris Badwan, isn’t basking in the ethereal glow of his group’s successes.

He’s just launched an equally eerie new duo called Cat’s Eyes with Rachel Zeffira — a gorgeous, operatically trained soprano from Canada who’s currently residing in London. Their eponymous debut will see Stateside release May 3 via the artist-driven imprint Cooperative Music USA.

And Badwan isn’t doing anything halfway.

“Cat’s Eyes” was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s sprawling Real World Studios in scenic Bath, and produced by ace knob-twiddler Steve Osborne.

Currently, the duo is offering a free download of their “Not A Friend” track on their site, where fans can see them performing a funereal “I Knew It Was Over” at St. Peter’s Basilica in (!?) the Vatican during a mass for several cardinals (a gig arranged by Zeffira, who’d performed there before).

Talk about papal indulgences!
