The Daily Outrage: Misused workers

Who: Agriprocessors

What: State prosecutors charged the owners and managers of Agriprocessors, the largest kosher meatpacking plant in the U.S., with more than 9,000 misdemeanors each, alleging they illegally hired minors, including seven under the age of 16.

Why they're doing it: The Postville, Iowa, plant was the site of one of the largest immigration raids in U.S. history in May.

Why it's a bad idea: Some of the minors under 16 were handling dangerous equipment, including
circular saws and meat grinders, and many of them were exposed to dangerous chemicals.

Where to vent: Company officials, who say they acted in good faith in hiring the youth, are facing charges in both state and federal court.
