Who: Broward County, Fla., School District

What: Spent more than $394,000 to pay a developer to plant gardens designed to lure butterflies to schools. But the contract itself was worth up to $1 million.

Why it's an outrage: The school district plans to lay off more than 1,305 teachers. How are butterflies more important?

Where to vent: Call the Florida Commission on Ethics at 850-488-7864.
