The Daily Outrage: Dad’s punishment of girl lands him in court

WHAT: A Washington state man is suspected of holding his 4-year-old daughter’s head under water in the kitchen sink because she would not recite the alphabet. Police say the child “had severe bruising on her entire back,” along with scratch marks and bruising on her neck, throat, chin, arms, legs and buttocks.

WHO TOLD: The girlfriend of Joshua Ryan Tabor, 27, called police because Tabor allegedly “was irate, intoxicated and walking around the neighborhood with his Kevlar helmet threatening to break windows.” She said when the child wet herself, Tabor “makes her sit in the urine-soaked clothes.”

WHAT’S BEING DONE: Tabor, an anger-management grad and a soldier at Fort Lewis, is out on $10,000 bail, restricted to the base until his arraignment this week and forbidden to contact his family. The 4-year-old is in the custody of Child Protective Services.
