The City gets dark tonight

More than 60 businesses and organizations in San Francisco have vowed to hit the lights today at 8 p.m. for Earth Hour, a global event coordinated by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about climate change.

The Bay and Golden Gate bridges will turn off decorative lights for the event, and on the Peninsula, Brisbane will also take part. San Francisco, representing the Pacific Time Zone, is one of the event’s 25 "flagship" cities worldwide encouraging residents and businesses to turn off nonessential lights from 8 to 9 p.m. For a list of participating organizations, visit www.earthhourus.org/sanfran.php.
