The 3-minute interview with Rajai Davis

The outfielder was acquired July 31 by the Giants from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Matt Morris trade, joining the team when Barry Bonds had 754 home runs. The 26-year-old rookie spoke about the change in scenery with The Examiner.

How has the adjustment to the new team been? I’m just enjoying the whole atmosphere here. It’s been a really friendly environment so far.

Has all of the media attention surrounding Bonds surprised you? I wasn’texpecting anything, really, and to go from that to having all these people in the clubhouse is just amazing. I guess this is what the playoffs would be like, this type of environment.

Is it exciting as a player to be on the field with Bonds as he makes baseball history? The energy is transferred into everyone in the clubhouse. And everyone looks at it as a great opportunity to be a part of history, I think. It’s definitely one of those things you can tell your grandkids: "I played with Barry Bonds, the home run king."

Have you spoken much to Bonds yet? I’ve talked to him a little bit. He’s a busy man right now and I’m sure his time is very precious to him. And if he does give you time, that’s really an honor and a great opportunity to talk and learn from someone of that status.
