The Thanksgiving Day holiday, and the busy shopping days that follow, will bring changes to San Francisco's public transportation and street parking, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

On Thanksgiving Day, Muni will operate on a Sunday schedule, followed by a weekday, non-school schedule Friday.

Bay Area Rapid Transit will also be running on a Sunday schedule on Thanksgiving, with normal weekday service Friday.

Parking enforcement on Thanksgiving will follow a holiday schedule and city meters, residential permits, commute lanes and street sweeping will not be enforced. Meter and street sweeping enforcement willtake place Friday.

The southern lanes of Harrison Street between Ninth and 10th streets will be closed on Thanksgiving from 6 a.m. to noon for Salvation Army holiday meal distribution.

For those daring to venture into downtown San Francisco for shopping on Friday and this weekend, both Muni and BART are recommended to get to Union Square, San Francisco Centre or the Metreon.

The Larkspur, Sausalito, Vallejo and Oakland-Alameda ferries will also be running Friday.
