Text messages tip dad off to sex predator’s advances on his daughter

It’s a father’s nightmare — finding hundreds of text messages from a sex predator on his daughter’s cellphone.

That’s the horror a Peninsula dad has been dealt in the case of a San Carlos tutor who allegedly molested a 10-year-old girl, according to prosecutors.

The man tutored the girl and allegedly fondled her multiple times, prosecutors said.

The 46-year-old Yung Chi Chu pleaded not guilty to all sex charges against him on Thursday.

The victim’s father found the creepy text messages in October. Typically sent between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the texts included naked pictures of men and also asked the girl to send naked pictures of herself, according to San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

Chu posted the $250,000 cash bail Monday and is out of custody.

The case was set for preliminary hearing on May 27.
