Terms of mayoral bet over 49ers-Saints game finalized

Playoff football fever is spreading — and mayors are not immune.
On Thursday, Mayor Ed Lee announced the terms of a friendly wager he has made with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu over Saturday’s bout between the 49ers and Saints.

On the table are culinary delights and local libations from each city. If the Niners win, Lee gets fresh Louisiana seafood, a Sucre King Cake and Abita beer. If the Saints are victorious, Lee must give up Dungeness crab from Fisherman’s Wharf, Boudin sourdough bread and Anchor Steam beer.

“So while I’m excited to make this bet with Mayor Landrieu, we have no intention of sending anything to New Orleans,” Lee said in a statement. “Go Niners!”

The two mayors are set to meet next week at the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington, D.C.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game at Candlestick Park is set for 1:30 p.m.
