Teens really wanted access to unfinished library

Teenagers with a reckless desire to enter a library in the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood flashed a pistol to make their point on Thursday, police said.

The punks tried to enter a public library that was under construction in the 1800 block of Page Street around 2:50 p.m.

Two construction workers tried to stop them, and at one point one of the teens showed the men “the butt of a pistol,” police said.

The youngsters fled, but cops chased them down nearby, police said.

The gun was found to be an air pistol.

The juveniles were cited and released to their parents, police said.
