Teachers get up to 40 percent off public transit

If you’re a public school teacher and you take public transportation to work, you should probably be hacking up to 40 percent off your commuting costs.

The teacher’s union just opened its enrollment window through Sunday for a new benefits program that applies to several transportation agencies.

Muni, BART, Translink AC Transit, Ferry passes are among the agencies participating.

Any of those resonate? Then enroll as a new user at www.myfbmc.com and sign up to have your tickets deducted from your paycheck, pre-tax.

Here’s some of the fine print: The monthly service fee is $3.15, but should be offset by the tax savings. Members can purchase up to $230 a month and there other rules and restrictions, too.
