Tax time

The tax deadline is upon us, and people across the country are finishing up an estimated 3.18 billion hours figuring out and filing their returns. The National Taxpayers Union, an advocacy group, calculates the average taxpayer spent 24.2 hours on their taxes. With some 60 percent of people now using paid preparers, the average cost of paying taxes is $207.

Wal-Mart (WMT), the world’s largest retailer with$351 billion in revenue, has reclaimed its position as the largest corporation in the U.S. among the Fortune 500, pushing Exxon Mobil (XOM) down to second place. Oil companies have three of the top five spots. Mountain View’s Google Inc. (GOOG) is among the biggest movers, jumping more than 100 spots to 241.
