Take a scavenger hunt in San Francisco at your leisure

Christie Walker and her family own Urban Adventure Quest, a new scavenger-hunt-style walking tour that’s guided entirely through a smartphone. The game allows players to solve clues and complete challenges to figure out where in The City they will be heading to next.

What was the inspiration behind the idea?
We were all fans of “The Amazing Race” and we all love to travel. We thought about what we could do to incorporate both of these. Now we get to travel and pretend we are on “The Amazing Race” while creating these games throughout the country.

What makes this kind of tour different than others?
Players can do this when they want. They are in total control. They can even start one day and finish another day. It’s very flexible. The game is smartphone-driven and is perfect for today’s changing technology.

What will San Franciscans learn from this? Players will learn general history about San Francisco as well as specific history. Some past players have said that they have walked by something every day for 10 years, but didn’t really know it was there.
