Synchronized timing for new GGP recycling bins

An announcement about adding 180 new trash and recycling receptacles to Golden Gate Park dropped just hours before the Rec and Park Commission is scheduled to vote on designs to replace the old HANC recycling center with community gardens.

Backed by Mayor Gavin Newsom and nonprofit San Francisco Parks Trust and Recology, park officials will start by placing 46 of them on the east side — the side where HANC is — within coming weeks.

The Recreation and Park Commission will hear about preliminary designs for the community gardens that have historically been in high need but does not have the ability to decide on the eviction.
