Suspect, victim meet at hospital

A man was arrested Wednesday night after checking into the same hospital as the victim he allegedly stabbed during a fight, police said.

Clifton Thomas, 22, of San Francisco was reportedly involved in a fight with a 36-year-old man near the Civic Center BART station, police Officer Albie Esparza said. Thomas allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing.

When cops arrived, they said they realized the victim’s injuries were serious enough to require a hospital.

While at the hospital speaking with the victim, cops noticed Thomas check in for treatment of wounds on his hands, Esparza said. Police said he matched the description of the man from the fight, and he was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The investigation is ongoing, Esparza said. — Rob Nagle
