Suspect arrested in Daly City officer-involved shooting

Police on Thursday arrested a suspect in connection with an officer-involved shooting that happened Wednesday night in Daly City around 9 p.m. in the area of Crocker Avenue and Brunswick Street, police said.

Daly City resident Reagan Mauga-Head, 37, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon around 2:30 p.m. in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 9 p.m. in the area of Crocker Avenue and Brunswick Street, police said.

The shooting occurred after officers from the San Mateo County Gang Task Force attempted to conduct a traffic stop. An officer contacted the driver of a white Chrysler 300, but the driver sped away, dragging the officer a short distance.

A second officer, who was acting as cover, fired at the vehicle, police said. The driver fled the area. The officer who was dragged suffered minor injuries.

Daly City police investigators were called in to investigate the incident, because it happened in the department’s jurisdiction.

The vehicle, a four-door white 2014 Chrysler 300 with a license plate number of 7FFS975, hasn’t been recovered, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident or the location of the vehicle can contact the Daly City Police Department Investigations Division at (650) 991-8092.
