Survey: Signs positive for Newsom to win Lt. Gov. primary

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom looks well-positioned to win next Tuesday’s Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, according to a recent survey.

The mayor holds a 17-point lead, according to poll released by Tulchin Research today. The poll shows that 46 percent of likely Democratic primary voters support Newsom compared to 29 percent who say they will support Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn.

Newsom also leads by a wider margin among voters who have already cast their ballots as he garners a solid majority, according to the poll.
