Survey about prospective BART police chief now available online

With the search for BART’s new police chief now underway, the transit agency wants your feedback on what type of leader should be hired.

A new online survey, asking users to provide input on desired characteristics and qualities of a police chief, is now available at the agency’s website, www.bart.gov. The survey will be available until January 7, and its results will be compiled and used as part of the public outreach process.

Former chief Gary Gee resigned in August, eight months after a BART police officer shot and killed an unarmed man at the Fruitvale station. Commander Maria White has been acting as the interim general in Gee’s absence, but BART is hoping to have a new chief sworn in by April 26.
