Supes to vote on gunshot detector grant

ShotSpotter could be more than doubling its range.

The ShotSpotter system alerts cops to gunfire and the location where the gun was shot. The system is in place and covers about 3.3 square miles.

A U.S. Department of Justice grant of $1 million would fund the expansion of the system to cover another 4 square miles.

The Board of Supervisors votes Tuesday on whether to accept and authorize the spending of the grant.
