Supes start delving into proposed department budgets

The Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee officially kicks off its review of The City’s budget next week with hearings beginning on the proposed budgets of enterprise departments, those departments like the Airport Commission or the Public Utilities Commission that rely on their own revenues for their budget and not The City’s general fund. The committee begins these hearings on Wednesday at 1:30 pm at City Hall in room 250.

Hearings on the enterprise traditional occur this time every year, two weeks before Mayor Gavin Newsom must submit his total proposed city budget for the fiscal year that begins on July 1. His proposed city budget must be submitted by June 1 to the Board of Supervisors for review and adoption. Newsom has been working to close a $483 million deficit.
