Supes say no to sit-lie but yes to a task force

The Board of Supervisors rejected the proposed law it make it illegal to sit or lie on sidewalks, but Board of Supervisors President David Chiu’s sort of counter-proposal was approved unanimously Tuesday in a second and final vote.

What will it do?

It creates a seven-member Neighborhood Community Justice Task Force “to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding the creation of neighborhood-based restorative community justice programs.”

The task force is charged with focusing on the Haight neighborhood, where the movement for a sit-lie law was born.
