Supervisors to scrutinize Newsom budget cuts

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s $45 million mid-year cut proposal to help offset San Francisco's current fiscal year budget deficit comes before the Board of Supervisors Budget and Finance Committee meeting Wednesday. The meeting takes place at 2 p.m. at City Hall, Room 250.

Newsom announced the cuts late last year. He is also expected to announce additional budget changes in the coming months as The City faces a budget deficit of about $500 million for the next fiscal year, which begins July 1, that needs to be closed.

Newsom has until June 1 to submit a balanced budget proposal to the Board of Supervisors for review and adoption.
