Supervisors to hold shipyard redevelopment hearing on Monday

Massive building plans centered on a shuttered shipyard are scheduled to be discussed Monday afternoon at City Hall.

The Board of Supervisors’ Land Use and Economic Development Committee will hold a hearing on the planned redevelopment of 702 acres of land in and around the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

The hearing will include a discussion of the land-use, housing, community benefits, employment, open-space, sustainability, financing infrastructure and transportation components of the plan, according to the agenda.

City economic development official Michael Cohen recently said that the Board of Supervisors could be asked to approve finalized redevelopment plans in June.
