Supe holds hearing on Muni audit

On Thursday, the Board of Supervisors Government Audit and Oversight Committee holds a hearing on an audit issued last year by Budget Analyst Harvey Rose on Muni’s proof-of-payment program. That program is meant to ensure Muni riders are paying their fares and not riding for free.

The audit, however, found the program was riddled with flaws.

The hearing on the audit comes as the transit agency is struggling to close a budget deficit, looking at service cuts and fare increases.

The Board of Supervisors Government Audit and Oversight Committee meets Thursday at 1 p.m. at City Hall in Room 250. The hearing was requested by Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi.
