Summary Box: Snow White rivalry heats up

SNOW WHITE SPARRING: Movie studio Relativity Media pushed back the release of its Snow White retelling, "Mirror Mirror," by two weeks to March 30. The gap between it and Universal Pictures' "Snow White and the Huntsman" is now just nine weeks.

SAME BUT DIFFERENT: "Mirror Mirror" is a PG-rated family comedy starring Julia Roberts. "Huntsman," not yet rated, is a gritty action movie starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth.

BIG BET: Hollywood studios have gambled that similarly themed movies going back-to-back are OK and have won. "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" both threatened Earth in 1998, and both grossed well past $300 million in global ticket sales despite debuting within two months of each other.
