Student arrested in SJSU groping investigation

Authorities have released the name of a student who was arrested in connection with a series of break-ins and groping incidents at San Jose State University.

Officials say 21-year-old Michael Escobar was being held on suspicion of four counts of burglary after his arrest Friday.

Escobar was taken into custody after four women reported that a man walked into their unlocked rooms in a dormitory and groped hem.

The first report came in to university police around 3:30 a.m. Friday. As police searched the high-rise dormitory, three more women told officers they had also been groped.

Lopes Harris says Escobar is a junior at the university, majoring in sociology. He does not live on campus and has no previous arrest record with university police.
