String of shootings: Man gunned down in Western Addition

A 21-year-old man was shot dead in the Western Addition on Monday night, the third young man since Friday to die by gun violence in San Francisco.

Lawrence Richardson, of San Francisco, was shot while walking in the 1800 block of Eddy Street about 10:40 p.m., police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

He had just left a convenience store when gunfire erupted, Andraychak said.

No arrests have been made, Andraychak said, and no motive has been determined, although the victim appeared to be the intended target.

The killing marks The City’s 18th homicide of the year.

On Sunday, aspiring rapper Jahmad Karriem, 20, was shot dead at his friend’s Ingleside district home. Early Friday morning, 21-year-old Diondre Young was found shot dead near the Bay Bridge. No arrests have been announced in either homicide, police said Tuesday.

Loved ones of the victims took to Twitter on Tuesday to denounce the recent spate of violence, with some saying they knew both Richardson and Karriem.

“RIP Jahmad yesterday... RIP Low effa today... My lil homie and my nigga since waaay back...,” said Twitter user @itsCody31.
