Still no charges against SFPD lab technician

Police are still working the investigation into Deborah Madden, the SFPD civilian employee accused of stealing cocaine from evidence samples from the drug lab where she worked for 29 years.

She has yet to be charged because police are still waiting on samples to be retested at the state Department of Justice, Assistant Chief Jeff Godown said this week.

Once police have put together a case to prosecute, the files will be sent back to the state Department of Justice for charging.

And for those who want to see the files on Madden, a protective order sealing the documents is still in place as a hearing to open those documents was postponed to next week.
