Still jonesing for some Prince? Meshell Ndegeocello has got your back

So you’ve caught the pair of glittery Prince concerts in the Bay Area this week, right?

But you say you still want more?

Gather ’round, all you gluttons for punishment, because — believe it or not — still more lilac-themed madness is on its way.

As in two upcoming shows from badass, ex-Bay Area bassist Meshell Ndegeocello, the first on March 12 at Oakland’s bustling New Parish, the second a day later at The Independent in San Francisco.

What’s so purple about them?

Just this: They’re two of only three performances billed as “Gett Off: Meshell Ndegeocello Covers Prince.”

The lady has already been through promoting her bluesy “Devil’s Halo” release. But now — backed by guitarist Chris Bruce, keyboardist Keefus Ciancia and drummer Deantoni Parks, the usually dead-serious musician will be thumping out covers of such Prince staples as “Pop Life,” “Lady Cab Driver” and “Little Red Corvette.” And if anyone’s got soul enough to pull this off, it’s the mighty Meshell. Who could also beat the holy crap out of that delicate-boned Prince in a celebrity deathmatch.

Uhh, if there were such a thing.
