Star-studded reopening for Hamilton rec center

Two water slides may be better than one, but what if you add a former Giants players, a past Olympian and jazz music, too?

Apparently the Hamilton Recreation Center’s grand re-opening this Saturday is a family and former Olympian affair. Triple jump gold medalist Kenny Harrison, former San Francisco Giants players Tito Fuentes and Orlando Cepeda and jazz musician Lloyd Gregory are making appearances.

According to this Rec and Park document, it’s taken nearly seven years to finish the $18 million dollar project, which is mostly funded through park bonds. It’s just a couple of months past its estimated deadline.

And it also got a $50,000 handout.
