Stanford runs past USC; USF topples St. Mary’s 

Josh Huestis scored 11 points and grabbed 18 rebounds as the Stanford men’s basketball team cruised past Southern Cal 80-59 on Thursday. The victory for Stanford (17-8, 8-5 Pac-12 Conference) is its fourth win it the past five games.

Chasson Randle added 18 points for Stanford as four players reached double figures.

The Trojans (10-16, 1-12) struggled offensively all night, turning it over 18 times and hooting just 36.2 percent from the field. Pe’Shon Howard paced USC with 13 points.

USF 73, ST. MARY’S 62

The Dons snapped a 17-game losing streak to the Gaels thanks to dominant defense and balanced offense. Four USF players scored in double figures, including Matt Glover, Kruize Pinkins and Mark Tollefsen, who all finished with 16 points. USF (17-10, 10-5 West Coast Conference) held St. Mary’s to just 39.7 percent shooting. Brad Waldow led the Gaels (19-9, 9-6) with 15 points. USF’s last win against St. Mary’s prior to Thursday came in 2006.

Santa Clara 70, Pacific 50

Brandon Clark scored 17 points and Jared Brownridge added 16 as Santa Clara rolled to a win over Pacific. The Broncos (12-16, 5-10 WCC) opened a 29-19 lead at the half.


ST. MARY’S 83, USF 64

Jackie Nared scored 23 points and Kate Gaze added 21 as St. Mary’s cruised to a WCC win against USF. Zhane Dikes led USF with 17 points and seven rebounds.
