St. Ignatius’ Sydney Raggio named girls’ WCAL Player of the Year 

Senior Sydney Raggio, who led the St. Ignatius girls’ basketball team to a regular-season co-championship, was named West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year on Tuesday.

Raggio led the Wildcats to a 10-2 mark and settled for a tie for first place with Mitty, which beat SI 58-53 in the regular-season finale Saturday. This after Mitty lost to third-place Sacred Heart Cathedral 59-48 three days earlier.

Two of Raggio’s teammates were named to the All-WCAL first team: seniors Tyler Brown and Joleen Yang. Sacred Heart Cathedral also had two first-teamers: seniors Kayla Coloyan and A’shanti Coleman.
