Spotify nabs Market space

Digital music service Spotify will soon move into the Warfield building, joining other tech companies in the mid-Market Street area.

“Spotify is innovating how we listen to music, and I am thrilled to welcome them as the 11th technology company to choose a central Market location,” Mayor Ed Lee said in a statement.

The move melds the company’s tech focus with the music aspect of The Warfield Theater.

“Spotify is both a technology and a music company, so the Central Market location and association with the Warfield Theater were a perfect fit for us,” Spotify executive Tom Hsieh said in a statement.

The lease for 13,500 square feet of space on three floors of the Warfield, which is currently being remodeled, was one of four in the mid-Market and Tenderloin areas announced Wednesday by the Mayor’s Office.

Among the three others is Phantom Coast Gastropub and Brewery, which leased space at Turk and Taylor streets.
