Niners rewarded for rare victory

After the 49ers kept him from becoming the first coach in team history to lose nine straight games, Mike Nolan, right, gave his team part of Monday off to revel in their overtime win over Arizona. He also gave a game ball — to everyone on the team — and now wants to see a new streak. "I’d like to see with the five weeks remaining after this that we start a streak unlike the one we were just in," Nolan said.

Steelers get sloppy win

Ricky Williams’ return didn’t last the first half after he injured his shoulder. Rain soaked Heinz Field and the only points came on a Jeff Reed field goal with 17 seconds left in the fourth quarter as the Pittsburgh Steelers kept Miami winless in a 3-0 win. It was the lowest-scoring NFL game since 1993.
