Sports briefs: Stanford remains in front 

Stanford took a one-stroke lead over Minnesota after the second round of the NCAA men’s golf tournament in Williamsburg, Va. Stanford shot a 2-under 278 for a 7-under 553 total. Joseph Bramlett led the Cardinal, following his opening 78 with a 68. Zack Miller added a 69, Matt Savage shot a 70 and first-round leader Rob Grube a 71. Grube is third, three strokes back.

Jordan lures Higgins away from Mullin

Rod Higgins has left a former teammate to reunite withanother. Higgins, who served as the Warriors’ general manager for the past three seasons under Chris Mullin, was hired by the Charlotte Bobcats for the same position, a move that will have him working for his old friend Michael Jordan once again. Despite being part of the Warriors’ most-exciting playoff run in a long time, Higgins felt the opportunity to rejoin Jordan was too hard to pass up. "I’d like to think that, particularly with this season being such a successful one, it was time well spent," Higgins said.
