Southern Utah edges South Dakota 62-60 

Jackson Stevenett hit two free throws with 13 seconds left as Southern Utah defeated South Dakota 62-60 Saturday night.

Charlie Westbrook's three-point play with 1:20 remaining put South Dakota ahead 60-59. After Stevenett's free throws put the Thunderbirds back on top, Jordan Johnson grabbed a rebound off a missed 3-pointer and hit 1 of 2 free throws with 2 seconds remaining to round out the scoring.

Ramell Taylor led Southern Utah (12-10, 7-5 Summit) with 19 points. Stevenett added 15 points and Ray Jones Jr. had 13.

South Dakota (7-14, 2-10) got 19 points from Louie Krogman and 16 from Westbrook.

The game was close throughout until the Thunderbirds scored seven straight points to take a 57-50 lead on Jordan Johnson's layup with 5:58 left.

Westbrook then scored seven points during a 10-2 Coyotes run before Stevenett's free throws put Southern Utah ahead for good.
