South City police are looking for a man who found a way to circumvent the normally long line at Little Lucca sandwich shop: By forcing his way in after hours.

About 3:19 a.m. Thursday, a man broke into the popular sandwich shop -- known for its large sandwiches and original garlic sauce -- in the 700 block of El Camino Real and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Video surveillance and still photos were captured of the suspect, police said. Anyone with information about the man who defiled this sacred local institution is encouraged to contact police at (650) 877-8900 or (650) 952-2244.
