South City man gets 3 years for bombings

A 33-year-old man was ordered Monday to spend three years in prison for setting off two pipe bombs in South San Francisco in January.

Steven Eremeyeff pleaded no contest at his pretrial conference Monday in San Mateo County Superior Court to two felony counts of possession of a destructive device in a public place, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Prosecutors said Eremeyeff detonated a pipe bomb in the Oyster Point area Jan. 17 and set off another one two weeks later in a residential neighborhood.

Eremeyeff was sentenced Monday to three years in prison with credit for 133 days served. He has been in custody in lieu of $250,000 bail.
