Some North Beach evacuees home, some waiting

Nearly all of the residents displaced by a February rockslide in North Beach have been allowed to move back into their homes, authorities said Tuesday.

Of the dozens of housing units affected by the 75-foot-wide rockslide, caused by heavy rains on Feb. 27, only 25 remain inaccessible. One adult entertainment club on Broadway also remains closed.

Woody Baker Cohn, a spokesman for the American Red Cross, said the agency will offer long-term residence assistance to 10 families. Other residents not able to move home as of yet have found other accommodations, he said.
