Solar power plant construction scheduled to begin soon

Equipment needed to build a massive solar power plant is being moved into place at the Sunset Reservoir.

Construction work to build the five-megawatt plant is expected to begin in mid- to late-March, according to San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesman Charles Sheehan.

“In a week, they’ll start to bring the racks and some of the solar panels,” Sheehan said Wednesday.

The project will be built and operated by a private company under a power-purchase agreement, which will see San Francisco purchase the electricity to help power its operations.
