Soccer player kicks referee in the face

A soccer referee was briefly knocked unconscious at Crocker Amazon Park on Sunday after a player enraged by a call pummeled his face with a “martial arts kick,” police said.

The player fled after the brutal karate kick left the referee unconscious for about three seconds on the soccer field around 9:45 a.m. The referee later told cops the player became outraged after he called a foul on him.

“The suspect fled when he saw the victim go down and not get up right away,” police said.

The player was not immediately found, but he left his ID card at the registration desk, which was booked as evidence, police said.

The referee was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, but was not seriously injured, police said.
